OBP (Tobias 02)

To be honest, the group is a bit confused as to what an OBP is supposed to be, and research into it yielded little to no results either, but we are going off of the assumption, that it is a prediction on the psychological behavior of the app’s users (OBP – Observed Behavior Pattern) and will present it as such.

So, through the use of this app, an expected behavior pattern would go something like this:

-        Initial motivation after downloading the app (someone uninterested wouldn’t be likely to download it to begin with).

-        The first few dishes may be a giant hurdle or way too easy depending on prior knowledge of cooking, so to mitigate this there will be significant EXP differences depending on how well users did, ensuring they don’t get lost and encounter dishes that seem unattainable for them to prepare.

-        As the user completes a challenge, they’ll either get a positive dopamine rush for all the EXP gotten and how good their food tastes based on their own labor and feel really good about themselves, or they’ll be met with disappointment both in EXP gain and possibly food taste, where mitigation of motivational damage must take place through things such as motivational quotes and tips on what to do better next time. If the user feels so defeated that they won’t ever come back to the app, it has utterly failed in its purpose. Side quests like various snacks in-between big tasks can be a big help to overcoming the barriers of larger dishes, ideally employing the same cooking techniques as said large dish but in more segmented dishes.

-        When a user has gained a significant amount of levels and really gained experience in the field, a natural sense of pride and accomplishment should occur within the user, further encouraging them to use the app and maybe even experiment beyond it with their newfound knowledge of various cooking techniques.

-        The last few levels are for the enthusiast, ultimate challenges that may even take a bit of a budget to prepare, really set on challenging all they have learned throughout the use of the app, not everyone will bother doing these. But that is to be expected, it is not the types of dishes a student would generally make during a semester stay away from home and more for the sake of showing off more than anything else. These challenges will therefore not be mandatory, by the time a user get to them, they should have a good general grasp of how to cook a big assortment of dishes as well as a sizeable library of dishes to choose from in the app’s logs of previously made dishes.

-        When the user is done, a significant life improvement may be seen through something so simple as gamified cooking, no longer choosing frozen pizza daily and instead eating a variety of healthy and varied dishes while having fun doing it.

So yeah, that is about all for the predicted cycle of a person’s behavioral psyche going through the app, there will of course be anomalies here and there, but this should serve as a good general template.
