Game Design Phase - World-dea (Jarle 03)
When brainstorming ideas with the motion graphics students it quickly became apparent that our game design concepts - while perfectly applicable in theory - were too ill-defined to be catchy on the practical level. In short; we didn't have a solid idea of how to structure our ideas in the app. What we needed was a gimmick, or a quirk, or a theme to base the structure on. Luck had it, in the first meeting we found the thing we had been looking for.
Meet the globetrotting chef. The concept can be summed up as follows:
- At the beginning of the game you can pick any country whose food you want to make.
- Completing a dish will unlock the adjacent countries.
- The dishes attributed to a country will be relevant the country's food culture.
- Dish difficulty in each country will range from easy to hard letting the player choose if they would like to progress quickly or challenge themselves.
